Deep Roots in our Community
The Karalus family have built businesses and empowered communities. From the health and wellbeing of people, to the health of animals and our environment, we’ve acted with purpose and made an impact. That’s the legacy I stand on and the future I will continue to shape.
My roots in Hamilton are deep. For generations, we’ve lived, learned, worked, and raised families in this city. From Sacred Heart, Melville High, and St Paul’s Collegiate to a working life spent across every part of Hamilton—I’ve seen this city from its edges to its centre, through the eyes of those with much, with some, and without.
This is the community that shaped me. This is the city I’m ready to serve.
"I do what I say I am going to do."
What am I going to do for you?
My priorities for the council are clear:
Partner with business leaders for sustainable growth. Live within our means, improve procurement, unlock housing bottlenecks, and champion local enterprise to attract talent and investment.
Champion technology in council processes and city-wide innovation. Support smart infrastructure investment, drive collaboration between council, investors, and tech founders, while ensuring digital equity for all residents.
Replace short-term political planning with a 35-year intergenerational strategy for a city prepared to grow in scale, complexity, and opportunity. Prioritise environmental and social wellbeing over quick wins with a guardianship mindset.
What I Bring?
Hamilton sits at the heart of the North Island — strategic, innovative, and full of promise. But potential alone won’t drive progress or solve real challenges. Now is the time to rebuild trust, rein in spending, reduce debt, and bring council back to basics. Leadership isn’t just about vision—it’s about delivery. That’s what I offer.
Why Stand Now?
Our city is at crossroads: incredible potential yet a very weak financial position. Our residents, businesses and communities are under strain: struggling with rates increases in a cost-of-living crisis.
I have the head to contribute to challenging issues, the values to ensure transparent leadership and practical reform, and the heart to lead and make difficult decisions. It’s time for me to put my hand up.
